PubMed Tips: Import Results to EndNote or RefWorks

PubMed

PLAN A

In PubMed

  1. Run PubMed search as usual and select citations to save.
  2. Click Send To.
  3. Destination = File
  4. Format = MEDLINE
  5. Click Create File.
  6. Save file, pubmed_result.txt, to Desktop.

In RefWorks

  1. Go to References > Import.
  2. Import Filter/Data Source = NLM PubMed
  3. Database = PubMed
  4. Browse to select pubmed_result.txt from Desktop.
  5. Click Import.
  6. View new references in Last Imported Folder.

PLAN B

In PubMed

  1. Run PubMed search as usual and select citations to save.
  2. Click Display Settings.
  3. Format = MEDLINE.
  4. Increase Items Per Page, if necessary
  5. Click Apply.
  6. In web browser, click Edit > Select All.  Then click Edit > Copy.

In RefWorks

  1. Go to References > Import.
  2. Select From Text
  3. Import Filter/Data Source = NLM PubMed
  4. Database = PubMed
  5. In web browser, click Edit > Paste.
  6. Click Import.
  7. View new references in Last Imported Folder.
